About
I’m Katie, a Nashville-based freelance content writer, creative writer, and editor.
I write thoughtful, researched marketing pieces like blog posts, ebooks, and case studies for B2B, SaaS, and e-commerce companies.
One of my great joys is creating free materials to help writers learn more about writing creatively, improve their craft, and embrace their work. I do that through two ongoing efforts — The 52-Week Project and The One-Week Daily Writing Devotional — as well as in my blog, where I support writers in making time to write, creating compelling characters, pushing through blocks, and connecting with the wider creative community.
A brief history:
After studying English and creative writing at Saint Louis University, from which I graduated magna cum laude, I covered murder-suicides, police chases, protests, elections, and the city’s 1,000-year flood for Nashville’s NBC affiliate.
My content writing has been published by Headspace, Close, Emma, Deck Commerce, enVista, Groups360, and more.
My journalism work is found at Axios, The Tennessean, BookPage, Tennessee Register, Nashville Scene, and Advertising Week, among others.
My creative writing has appeared in Kiln, Regime Magazine, Tethered by Letters, and on the side of a Nashville transit bus. My first book, a short story collection called Cheers, Somebody, was published in 2017 by Vine Leaves Press.

You’ll notice that the only way to reach me is by email instead of directly purchasing online. That’s because I feel there’s tons of value in having a conversation first about your project’s goals: I get a feel for your voice, you get a feel for mine, and then we decide to be friends forever.
