Copywriting

Ever lost a customer over a typo or convoluted sentence? I bet you have — I’m that type of customer. If a company doesn’t invest in error-free brand copy, I’m suspicious of the time it takes to perfect its products and services.

We want to sell what you’re bringing to the table, and my business marketing expertise (+ pithy writing) helps you win.

My goal as a content marketing consultant is to engage your readers: whether they’re starting with your About Us page or clicking through your online store to decide which product they can’t live without.

Trained in the newsroom and classroom, my experience as a journalist and marketer with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing means I have a real-world understanding of our community: how they want to be talked to, what they’re afraid of, what they’re looking for, and what their current buying habits are. But in addition to my résumé, I’m passionate about doing creative content marketing well and getting the right message to the right audience.

Long story short:

What copywriting can I do for your business, and what does it cost?

  • Blog posts start at $500 for up to 1,000 words, with my byline. Ghostwritten blog posts start at $575 for up to 1,000 words.

    • Each additional 1,000 words is $500.

  • Ebooks are $1/word.

  • Standalone email campaign is $300/newsletter (more on this here).

    • Autoresponders are $250/email.

    • Drip campaigns are $400/email.

  • Whitepapers start at $500/page and depend on the project’s scope.

  • Case studies are $3,000.

  • Marketing brochures start at $3,500 for up to 10 pages.

  • Employee handbooks are $8,000 for up to 20 pages.

  • Brand style guides (common messaging and content elements unique to your brand) are $10,000.

  • Website and app content (About Us, Services, Pricing, Online Store, etc.) is quoted case-by-case.

... Have a copywriting need not on this list? Run it past me. I’ve likely done a similar project.

What are your takeaways?

  • You’ll have thoughtful, polished, well-researched content ready to go live.

  • If your brand doesn’t yet have a distinct voice, I’ll create one — Yodelayheehoo! (It won’t sound like that.)

  • In keeping with my idols William Strunk, Jr., and E.B. White, I don’t use nine words when four will do. That means less reading time for your easily distracted site visitors so they quickly glean the point: Your products are awesome, you’re a saint, and they feel compelled to give you all their money.

  • A content marketing plan, full stop. It can be overwhelming to know you need online advertising but haven’t the foggiest idea of how to cobble together a quality marketing strategy to convert clients. Let me be that cobbler.

What’s life like with a copywriter?

  • A relief: Turn your content needs over to me, and get on with your day using your own strengths. Maybe that’s managing a team, designing logos, or analyzing data spreadsheets (bless your heart) — I’m a big believer in working with your own skills and hiring out where you’re lacking. It’s why I have an accountant and graphic designer.

  • You’ll have a clean, error-free marketing plan you can depend on. On which you can depend. (I’ll try not to end sentences in a preposition.)

  • I’ll use Google’s Suggestions and Comments so you can see my work and add your voice along the way, or you may want to push the writing work out of your mind entirely and only hear from me with the end product. I take no offense to that — It lets me fully delve into my creative marketing work.

Testimonials

You are hands-down the best freelance writer I’ve ever worked with. You’ve done a fantastic job. I couldn’t be more pleased. ... You are such a gifted writer, and your attention to detail is remarkable. THANK YOU!
— Jason B.
GREAT work. Enjoyed Katie’s communication style for us to get started. She makes this work seem so easy. What she did in an hour, I would have spent 10 hours doing, and it would have been half as good. I look forward to working with Katie again.
— Liz A.
She did a great job writing for our About Us page and website content. Highly recommended! Thank you!

If you’re ready to jazz up your copy and automate that content marketing plan:

You’ll notice that the only way to reach me is by email instead of directly booking my time online. That’s because I feel there’s tons of value in having a conversation first about your project’s goals: I get a feel for your voice, you get a feel for mine, and then we decide to be friends forever.

Sound good? Hit that button above, and let’s get to it!
